We spent our Valentine’s day a little differently than most this year; we volunteered for half our day at the Covenant House of Alaska and we loved it! Our job was to clean and organize the clothing closet that provides youth with needed clothing items including basic everyday essentials and job opportunity attire. It was not a small task to take on by any means, but we accomplished a lot in the four hours that we were there. Everything is now organized by style and size. The volunteer coordinated at the Covenant House was very impressed with our work stating “Such a transformation! Thank you for all of your hard work. We would love to have Coldfoot back in the future!” We will certainly be back, and we were happy to help such an amazing place that supports the youth of our community. The Covenant House of Alaska offers Alaskan youth in need shelter, food (three meals a day and snacks), medical services, music and art classes (including materials and instruments to explore their own talents and interests), transportation to and from work, job support (including clothing and resume building), internship opportunities to help build experience in the workforce, clean cloths, and so much more. We felt extremely blessed to help such a wonderful program and look forward to doing it again in the future.
